ABOUT ME

Omar Granados is a pianist, educator, composer and philanthropist.

 

He graduated from the Conservatory of Music of Puebla, Mexico, with a degree on Piano Performance.

He was a member of the faculty of the Conservatory for 6 years, as Piano Instructor, Solfege Instructor, Accompanist for the Choir and French Instructor. During that time, he performed very often in solo recitals, chamber music recitals and as soloist for the Orchestra of the Conservatory. He was also awarded a grant by FONCA (a department of the Secretary of Culture in Mexico) to perform lecture recitals that focus on piano music written by mexican composers.

He attended the Taubman Seminar for piano technique in New York in 2006 and 2007 

He has taken additional private lessons with Mr. Vladimir Odinokig and Mr. Oscar Tarragó in México and has attended masterclasses with Dr. Timothy Woolsey and Dr. William Westney.

 

He has been a private piano instructor with Musical Arts Center for the last 20 years.

 

He is certified by MTNA (Music Teachers National Association), served as president of SAMTA (San Antonio Music Teachers Association) from 2010 to 2014, he is a founding member of Alliance Music Teachers Association. and has also served as Chair for the 11-12 Piano Solo Performance Contest for TMTA (Texas Music Teachers Association).

His piano studio includes students of all ages and levels, as it is Mr. Granados’ belief that the best way for him to continue learning and improving his teaching skills is to work both with the beginners as well as with the advanced students; his students are always encouraged to participate in recitals, auditions and competitions. Many of them have won at many local and state competitions.

 

In November 2019, he and Jocelyn Hipolito, started a foundation, Key Notes of Love, with the goal to bring arts and education to children in vulnerable and disadvantaged situations in central Mexico.
